not your ordinary trench

(hat and trench VINTAGE, tank top FREE PEOPLE, bag VINTAGE GUCCI, jeans THRIFTED, booties NINE WEST)

Outerwear numero 4!! I present to you "the not your ordinary trench coat" because it is in fact not even a trench coat! This vintage beauty is a floral button up dress that does not button up on JOBABES voluptuous body, but I couldn't pass it up. It fit opened up and looked like a trench coat so I wore it that way BOOYAH! It's super fun re-purposing clothing items and I feel that more accomplished when getting dressed. The girly prints of roses  demands attention from the ordinary khaki colored trench. It sits in your closet begging and pleading to be worn because it is a show stopper and confuses the crowd, they don't know what to make of it. #SHEDGAF she turns heads with her confusing outfits. I wore the trench with baggy acid wash denim from the mens thrifted department, yes mens because yo girl has gone up a size or two. #SHEDGAF she is unapologetic about her curves!

shag me

(coat SAVERS THRIFT, denim button-up LEVIS, jeans CALVIN KLEIN DIY, bag BCBG GENERATION, booties URBAN OUTFITTERS)

LOOK MA I HAS NO PANTS!!! I DIYed these thrifted CALVIN KLEIN jeans and they are my favorite when I can't make up my mind whether I want to wear shorts or pants. You can have it all! I tread cautiously when wearing a denim on denim look because it could easily go all wrong. I usually opt for  two different color tones when pairing  denim together. I stayed with a quiet top and bottom (color wise) because I let the coat do all the talking. I found this shaggyness at a SAVERS thrift store for 7 bones! Straight to the dry cleaners and the coat is brand new. THANKS to the rad old lady who donated her pimped out shaggy goodness (shaggyness)!!!

"on the go" parka

(parka NORDSTROM RACK, t-shirt ZARA, jeans TOPSHOP, boots SOLESTRUCK "TBA", backpack VINTAGE, earrings FOREVER 21)

The throw on and go because you are on the go and "ain't nobody got time for that!!!" parka. Snatched this bad boy up at The rack where all full price NORDIE'S items are heaven sent for JOBABES. The brand is DANIEL RAIN and its the perfect light weight parka complete with pockets and hood!! This California weather has got me feeling some type of way I finally get to get dressed without sweating profusely (profusely because I still sweat in 60 degree weather). I went with my TOPSHOP boyfriend distressed denim to tie in the relaxed feel to the look. Pairing olive green with leopard print compliments each other very well and a swipe of MAC's CHILI on my lips to top it off! I opt for a backpack for that errand running kinda day. I threw my hair in a fast top bun and reached for my trusty gold  hoops. Although this outfit didn't require much effort I'm feeling extra confident but maybe its due to the regal top bun and the hoops, which always make me feel badass! What's your go to throw on outerwear?!? #SHEDGAF she rolls out of bed like DIS! (but on the real I don't)

check yourself

(coat VINTAGE, blouse THRIFTED, jeans ZARA, bag VINTAGE, boots MICHAEL KORS, hat URBAN OUTFITTERS)

This week I wanted to focus on outerwear pieces in my wardrobe that would be in rotation this fall season! The fist outerwear piece is the "Check Yourself Coat" a checked blue, yellow and green cinched waist coat. I styled all 5 outfits with different cuts of jeans and boots as the foundation, allowing me to transform all looks while still having a cohesive story.
This coat was handed down to me and I absolutely love that it is over-sized. It has a cinched waist giving it a better fit than your average boxy coat. I decided to mix the check print with a floral blouse. The prints balance out because the black, grey and white color tones don't overwhelm the outfit. The two paired together make for a great contrast of colors. Accessory wise the lieutenant hat and boxy purse tie the structure look altogether. The skinny denim is a great choice when working with over-sized coats and blousey tops. You don't want to look like you are completely drowning. The Chelsea boots kept the vibe masculine. Tune in for the rest of the outerwear pieces this week! See how I style 4 other key outerwear pieces!

sunday room inspiration

(all photos via Pinterest)

One thing I love about Sundays is spending time in my bedroom. I pull back my drapes and let the sunlight beam into the room. I snuggle in bed with my dog, hot brewed coffee in hand. I put my favorite jimmy jam on and soak in all the beauty that will ensue in the week ahead. I believe that when you surround yourself with goodness you manifest that goodness within yourself. My bedroom is a place of peaceful thought and creative energy. I love spending time in my oasis that I have created. Mantras, positive affirmations, photos of the ones I love and beautiful paintings from my best friend are some things pinned to my walls. They are reminders of how I want to live and start my day, being positive, with my loved ones and painting the world day to day with my Jobabyy vibes. Is your bedroom a place of serenity?

thoughts

Everywhere she looked and everything she touched was inspiration. Driving down the black freeway on the 5 South the only thing guiding her pathway was her dim headlights. The windows were rolled down and she felt the crisp coldness of November on her dry skin. Glass Animals- Pools blasted on the radio. She tried to tune out the racing thoughts, going 80 mph not only her speed but those ideas. She wanted and believed she could do it all. Nothing would stop her. She raced home to write it all down.

The rumbling of her stomach was so loud; she was hungry. Hungry for something more than what was on her plate. How and what would get her what she needed? She knew things took time. It was daylight savings and she had gained an hour. The time was now. She had everything she could imagine to push through any obstacle.

She wrote it all down, every single thought that came to mind. She didn't want to lose a thought or a minute. She reread the words written in her yellow speckled Mead composition book. The pen she wrote with bled onto the other side of the paper. Thoughts on top of thoughts. Her mop-like once white dog  laid at her feet, he smelt of dried spit. She stared blankly into space trying to find a starting point. Where would she begin?

good enough for me

I quickly changed out of my sweaty gym clothes. I didn't understand why I sweat so much I ran only a mile and I was drenched in stinky wetness. I pulled my dripping muscle tee over my head and light grey now dark grey drawstring pants off and down to the ground. I stood in front of the bathroom mirror. My neon pink and green sports bra was clearly not padded and my nipples peaked  through. My tummy resembled a pot belly pig. You would of thought that I'd hate to look at myself in the mirror half naked but the truth was I was amused at the form and shape of my own body.
I hopped in the shower for a quick rinse, playing with the faucet to find just the right temperature. It took me forever going back and forth from scalding hot to icy cold. I finally got it to just the right amount of warm. Was it wrong to put the bar of soap directly onto my body considering it wasn't my house? Would my best friend's brother mind that I used and abused his soap?! I decided not to.
Less than 2 minutes later I was done lathering. Good enough for me! I jumped out and right in front of me was the white square devil that resembled a calculator. YES I had to! I was curious I just ran a mile and just sweated off at least 5 pounds, O.K. maybe I was feeling extra confident. That confidence was shot right down.
I looked down with my eyes half closed. I opened them, 157 lbs. Wait was that right, I hopped back off and on again hoping the numbers would change. Oh well, I grabbed my one piece black floral bathing suit and stretched it out because it seemed more snug than I remembered, had it shrunk? I wiggled my legs through and finally got into the lower half. Now for the top, I slipped the halter over my head and my boobs popped out like a cork in a wine bottle. I jumped up and down to get everything into the suit. I looked into the mirror, good enough for me.

the kimono 3 ways

 kimono VINTAGE

(crochet top URBAN OUTFITTERS, denim shorts LEVIS, fringe necklace LF STORES, hat VINTAGE, boots MICHAEL KORS)

(hat URBAN OUTFITTERS, crochet sweater VINTAGE, diy jeans CALVIN KLEIN, boots TOPSHOP)
 (blouse VINTAGE, necklace NORDSTROMS)

I took my vintage kimono and transforming the piece into 3 different styles. For the first outfit I played with the bohemian theme with wearing an ethereal top. The tops whimsical fabric accessorized with a fringe necklace and wide brimmed hat kept the bohemian vibes alive. The second outfit I opted for a grunge look, tying the kimono around the waist executed this perfectly. These DIY ripped jeans and black crochet top added badassness. I transformed the kimono into a polished throw on for the third look. I wore a white button up blouse dress and accessorized with a crystal layered necklace.
One item can easily translate into more than one trend or style by pairing the item with the right separates and accessorizing to convey the story!
